October.... is for the dogs!

October is one of those months where there is a lot going on, it became fall, Halloween is this month, our church moved locations, and most of all it is a month dedicated to some great dog causes. Adopt a shelter dog month is October, and October is also pit bull awareness month and October 24th was pit bull awareness day. We celebrated by taking our foster Takoda, from the Lucas County Pit Crew and our own dog Emma to a dog Halloween themed party at the rescue groups center. The dogs wore costumes and the best costumes won a prize.
This is a good month to spread awarness to your friends and family about how important it is to adopt a dog rather than buy a dog from a pet store (dogs from pet stores usually come from puppy mills) there are many dogs that need a home that are in shelters and rescue groups. Shelters don't always have room for all the dogs that come in as well.

I wanted to share on here since I really haven't posted much about dogs on here, and the dogs are a huge part of my life, that we are a foster family for dogs who need a home. We started doing this almost a year ago (November 2014) and it has been a lot of fun and it feels good to help dogs in need. We have met a lot of great dogs doing this, and our dogs get to have some fun playmates as well. We have six foster dogs so far with our technically fifth foster still with us looking for a home. I am going to share some photos of our dogs and some dogs we have had the privilege to foster over the last year!
